I am a huge Asics fan and only buy Asics running shoes/ trainers etc. I recently purchased a pair of Asics Arctic Gels as I am a avid walker and live in Northern BC Canada. The shoes are marketed as "designed to satisfy the needs of runners facing icy running conditions". I tried my new shoes out for the first time this morning, looking forward to my morning walk without having to worry about slipping on the ice. I was very much disappointed! The shoes are fine on packed snowy surfaces, but when you walk on ice it is like having a pair of skates on. The metal spikes (which actually are not pointed but are flat) give the shoes a skate like quality, making the shoes even more slippery than my regular shoes. I am so terribly disappointed in spending over $150 us funds to buy my shoes and have them shipped by Amazon as I could not find them in my area. The shoes are not for icy conditions at all! Quite frankly I found them dangerously slippery! I really wonder what kind of testing went into these shoes.
