I was mislead by the Carhartt name, "solid wool", and "parka" description into thinking this would be a heavy winter coat. It most definitely is not, even by Oklahoma winter standards I would call this a jacket. I'm not sure where they are getting the "solid wool" from because the shell is the only wool piece and it is only 70% wool. It does have a quilted lining but still, not warm. I should have done more research on the definition of a parka. I had always heard it referred to by people from the north and assumed it just mean a super warm coat but it only means that it's hip-length and hooded. The picture is a good description and it does fit me mid hip which is what I was wanting. For sizing references, I am 5'7" and 150lbs. I ordered a medium and I'm happy with the fit. The lengths are great and the medium is plenty roomy enough for a heavy sweater, which will be necessary. It is a nice jacket but I'm debating on sending it back because of it's $100+ price.
