I was looking for a shoe that had enough room in the toe box for the long downhill hiking trips and these shoes do the trick. I have worn them once on a 5 mile hiking trail and had no problems with my feet. When I wear regular Nike running shoes for a long hike, I usually end up with a subungal hematoma but not with these shoes! I tried on the Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 and found the XA comp 7 trail running shoes more comfortable, not as stiff, with a larger toe box. I normally wear a size 7 in shoes. I bought a size 7 and they fit perfectly.
