BarkLimiter, built with proven Tri-Tronics® dog training technology, is the world’s first intuitive electronic bark correction device. It uses accelerometer-based bark identification to distinguish between barking and other vocalizations.

Bark Differentiation Technology

The BarkLimiter detects bark signals solely through vibrations from a dog’s throat. This virtually eliminates false corrections caused by scratching or scraping of surfaces, or other noises like the barks of nearby dogs (as in a kennel situation). In addition, BarkLimiter has been designed to recognize qualitative differences in barking. It corrects for obsessive or nuisance barking and ignores “good” barking. This allows the dog to communicate injury or threat without activating the device.

Autorise Technology

BarkLimiter is automatically set for Autorise right out of the box. Autorise starts at the lowest correction level and gradually adjusts to a level to stop unwanted barking without rising further. This gives you immediate relief from nuisance barking.

You can also switch from automatic to manual settings. Built-in Bark Odometer™ helps determine the effectiveness of the manual correction level by counting the number of barks while you are away.

Vibration Setting

You have the option of setting BarkLimiter to correct barks using vibration for an alternative to stimulation.

I've been waiting for this Garmin collar to be released, and I've had it for two months on my 60-pound lab mix who likes to bark at the neighbors cats sunning themselves. This has worked very well for me, though I had to trim the fur on the underside of her neck for good contact. I had the auto setting selected at first, then moved from 1 on up. Setting three where I've left it, and it makes a real difference as a deterrent. I can tell when she doesn't have the collar or if it's been rotated to the side, so I keep it on her at least when she's outside and snug enough that it doesn't shift.

I was really concerned about other noises causing false positives, so I am glad that this one has an accelerometer to coordinate with the movement caused by barks. I have never observed her reacting to a false positive. I have the unit with the rechargeable battery and am impressed with the battery life, as well. I go days before bothering to plug it in, but will tap it to look for a green blinking light; by the way, kudos to the design team for how it snaps onto the charger. It just seems to be a nicely built unit, and I've had no issues with it so far.
