It's a toss up between 4 or 5 stars, but I think "love" is a strong word for these shoes. I like them a lot though, as they suit all my needs satisfactorily.

I'm a fairly experienced runner, and my races of choice are full and half marathons. When I was starting out, I wore Gel Nimbus 13s, and they are bar-none the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. However, they're a little too heavy for long distances, and I tended to get muscle fatigue in my legs around 10+ miles. I bought the DS Trainer 18 because I read the reviews saying they were lighter than most of the other shoes, but more stable and supportive than a racing flat (DS Racer). I'd say that's a fair assessment. They're definitely lighter than the Gel Nimbus, but not as comfortable. The outer sole is narrower, which requires a truer gait. The inside toe box, however, is no more narrow.

Basically, buy these shoes if:
You are an experienced runner looking for something light-weight and durable to train and run long distance races.

Do not buy if:
You are a beginning runner - get the Gel Nimbus or Gel Kayano instead.
