I am a biologist and work with a crew of around 12 biologists each field season. Everyone is required to wear snake gaiters everyday so we have tried most of the kinds available. These ones are consistently uncomfortable for anyone who uses them and they fall apart after a month or two of regular use. If you only need them once in a while they might be fine, but if you need something that will last I'd say look elsewhere. If you are going to wear them more than an hour in a day and need them to be comfortable, I'd also say look elsewhere. The hard plastic digs into your calf and gets quite painful, especially if you have to bend down at all while working.

If you walk around somewhere with foxtail or any other sharp barbed seeds, the seeds work their way into every part of these leggings as well as up into the inside and into your socks/boots.

Usually the straps break first, followed by the flappy front sections that go over the foot.

I'd recommend the whitewater snakeproof gaiters. They are not perfect either, as they are hot and the straps wear out eventually, but so far those have been much better for members on our crew. I still am in the search for a good pair that is comfortable and can handle regular use.
